Dubai: a new way of life on the outskirts

Dubai is a city known for its skyscrapers, high-end hotels, beach clubs and its impressive buildings of the Palm Jumeirah and the Marina. There are also residential areas on the outskirts where many residents live.

Dubai’s expansion has been accompanied by an increase in residential areas and, after the pandemic, many people wanted to move from apartments to individual homes with outdoor space.

Eve Jumeirah Islands is a gated development built for this purpose, close to the Marina. The villas are grouped on 46 small islands surrounded by lakes and greenery. Like many others, the community that lives there has its own supermarket, school, clubhouse and recreational facilities.

Sheelah Odedra is a mother of two and a resident of Jumeirah Islands. The family moved soon after their daughter was born.

"We didn’t really know what we were looking for, but we needed more space. The best thing is to live in an area with lots of parks, nature, a clubhouse and a number of restaurants".

Sheelah says that these kinds of amenities make you feel part of a community, which is helpful when you have children.
